1. Preparation
Rinse 1 cup of glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
Peel and slice 2 ripe mangoes into thin wedges, setting them aside for serving.
In a small saucepan, mix 1 cup of coconut milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir until combined.
2. Cooking the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
Steam the rice over simmering water for about 20-25 minutes until it's translucent and fully cooked.
While the rice is steaming, heat the coconut milk, sugar, and salt mixture over low heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not boil.
3. Combining the Ingredients
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl.
Add 3/4 of the warm coconut milk mixture to the rice and stir gently to combine. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
4. Serving
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate.
Arrange the mango slices beside the rice.
Drizzle the remaining coconut milk over the rice and mango. Optionally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish.
