  • 2. Turmeric
  • 3. Tamarind
  • 4. Honey
  • 5. Water

Cooking method

1. Preparation

Wash and peel the ginger and turmeric, then slice them into thin pieces.

Peel and slice the tamarind, removing any seeds.

Measure out the honey or brown sugar.

Prepare a medium-sized pot and a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth for later straining.

2. Cooking

In the medium-sized pot, combine 4 cups of water, sliced ginger, turmeric, and tamarind.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes.

After simmering, remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly.

Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the liquid into a large jug, discarding the solids.

Stir in the honey or brown sugar until fully dissolved.

Chill the beverage in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving or serve over ice if desired.
