1. Preparation
Gather all the ingredients: canned chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and cumin.
If using canned chickpeas, rinse them under cold water and drain well.
Peel the garlic cloves.
Juice the lemon to obtain fresh lemon juice.
2. Blending
In a food processor, add the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, salt, and cumin.
Start the food processor on a low setting, then gradually increase to high until the mixture is smooth.
If the hummus is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
Once blended, scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula and blend again to ensure everything is well mixed.
3. Final Touches
Once the hummus is smooth, transfer it to a serving bowl.
Drizzle olive oil on top for flavor and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika or chopped parsley if desired.
Serve with pita bread, vegetable sticks, or use as a spread in wraps.
